About Noah

Doug Noah is a member of the Chairman's Office and the firm's Executive Committee. Doug has handled litigation and insurance matters for nearly three decades and is a founder of the firm's Insurance & Reinsurance Coverage practice.

Doug frequently represents insurance companies, both as counsel of record in coverage and bad faith litigation and as coverage/monitoring counsel. His insurance experience has focused on third-party coverage, including executive protection and professional liability products such as E&O, D&O, BPL, EPL and fiduciary policies. In his role as coverage/monitoring counsel, Doug advises on policy interpretation, claims handling and resolution, case valuation and settlement, and bad faith avoidance. He also has assisted insurers in drafting policies and endorsements.

Insurers frequently call on Doug to represent them in mediating high-exposure, public company class actions and shareholder derivative cases. He enjoys a reputation for creatively overcoming settlement obstacles and obtaining successful resolution of difficult cases. He has a long and respected relationship with the mediators who specialize in these cases across the country and has handled hundreds of complex, multi-party mediations. Insurance clients value Doug’s background as a trial lawyer not only for his ability to assess the strengths and weaknesses of a particular case but also for his advice on resulting exposures, value and resolution strategy.

Areas of Focus

Doug has recently handled insurance cases arising from bank failures, insurance company failures, insurance industry contingent commissions, ERISA stock drops, class wage-and-hour violations, mortgage-backed securities issues, mergers and acquisitions and SEC/DOJ investigations. He has significant experience representing D&O insurers with respect to claims involving public company class action securities law violations, derivative claims and matters arising from bankruptcy pending in courts across the country. His insurer representation in these areas is extensive and has involved many high-profile cases. Doug also has successfully defended numerous cases involving insurance coverage, rescission and bad faith.

Commercial Litigation
Doug is experienced in traditional tort and commercial litigation, including representing directors and officers in breach of fiduciary duty claims. He has tried to verdict numerous jury cases including commercial cases and cases in the areas of insurance bad faith, product liability, oil and gas, and personal injury.
